Covid-19: Hong Kong’s Lam denies communication issues after saying she ‘may not know’ how emergencies powers used

Hong Kong’s Main Government Carrie Lam has denied that her governing administration has any conversation problems, despite telling lawmakers she “may not be knowledgeable of” how her deputy utilised crisis laws – which bypass the legislature – to battle Covid.

“There are no conversation difficulties, but the lawmaker’s question yesterday was quite specific… mainly because when the Government Council executed the Crisis Regulation to override other neighborhood legislation, the authorisation was supplied to the Main Secretary. That is why I considered a far more correct reaction really should appear from the Chief Secretary for Administration’s Business office,” Lam claimed at a press meeting on Thursday.

Lam’s responses came just after Legislative Councillor Carmen Kan questioned the chief executive for the duration of Wednesday’s problem and reply session how the unexpected emergency regulation had been utilized following its enactment in February.
