What is GSAT-7B satellite that will boost Indian Army’s communication capabilities?

The Indian Army is established to get a prolonged-awaited devoted army interaction satellite as the Defence Acquisition Council permitted Acceptance of Necessity (AoN) for Money Acquisition proposals of Armed Forces. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh gave his nod to the Acceptance of Necessity for GSAT-7B Satellite that will increase operational preparedness of the Armed Forces and raise its conversation abilities.

Aside from the interaction satellite, the Defence Acquisition Council also accorded its nod to the procurement of Night Sight (Picture Intensifier), Mild Vehicles GS 4X4 and Air Defence Fireplace Command Radar (Mild) that will offer better visibility, increased mobility, enhanced interaction and greater ability of detecting enemy aircraft.

“As an impetus to ‘Aatmanirbhar Bharat’, all of these proposals have been accredited below the ‘buy (Indian IDDM)’ group with a focus on indigenous style and design & advancement and producing in India,” the ministry stated in a statement.

WHAT IS GSAT-7B SATELLITE?

The GSAT-7B is a conversation satellite section of the GSAT-7 collection, which was to start with released in 2013 by the Indian Place & Investigation Organisation (Isro). The start of the satellite ended the dependency of the Indian Navy on foreign satellites like Inmarsat for communication providers.

According to Isro, “GSAT-7 is an sophisticated conversation satellite constructed by ISRO to supply a huge array of services spectrum from minimal bit level voice to substantial little bit price data interaction. The GSAT-7 Communication payload is intended to offer communication abilities to buyers in excess of a vast oceanic location together with the Indian land-mass.”

Released in the geosynchronous transfer orbit, the satellite, also dubbed Rukmini, has emerged as a potent conversation instrument for the armed forces for nearly a ten years. The spacecraft was geared up with transponders in Ku band, S-band, C band and UHF (extremely-superior frequency) band to boost the maritime communications among the Indian Navy’s warships.

Rukmini was the initial military satellite made by Isro and launched atop an Ariane 5 ECA rocket from Kourou in French Guiana. The satellite connects the Navy’s warships, plane, submarines and land-centered conversation devices in genuine-time.

India followed GSAT-7 with GSAT-7A, dubbed the “Indian Indignant Chook”, introduced in 2018. This satellite served in the development of a band of communications satellites for the Indian armed forces. The 2,250-kg army communications satellite served in connecting all belongings of the Indian Air Power and serves as a force multiplier. GSAT-7A supplies communication capacity to users in Ku-band above the Indian location, Isro claimed, introducing that the mission everyday living of GSAT-7A is eight yrs.

At the minute, GSAT-7 and GSAT-7A are the only two focused satellites for the Indian armed forces and with GSAT-7B, their tribe is set to grow. GSAT-7B will be used by the Indian Army, which so significantly uses 30 for every cent of GSAT-7A’s transponder ability.

“As part of the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative, Defence Acquisition Council has authorised the acquisition of a point out of the art, multiband, army-grade satellite for the Indian Military. The satellite will be a force multiplier in providing fall short-safe and sound conversation assistance,” the Indian Army explained in a assertion.
